STAPH INFECTIONS IN ATHLETIC SETTINGS
The Canadian Committee on Antibiotic Resistance (CCAR) and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) are launching a national campaign to educate coaches, parents, and athletes about the spread of Staph infections in sport. Skin infections that begin through simple scrapes and cuts and develop into more serious Staph infections are becoming more prevalent in sport settings.
This partnership provides CAC and CCAR with an opportunity to ensure that coaches, parents and athletes are taught how to recognize the signs of infection and ensure that athletes get the proper treatment quickly. By becoming more educated about the spread of Staph infections, coaches can have a positive influence on the sport system and are a key component in ensuring the ongoing health of our athletes.
